MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) - The first sets of medals were awarded in artistic gymnastics at the 2nd European Games in Minsk on 29 June, BelTA has learned.
Russia's Angelina Melnikova was victorious in Women's All-Around who scored 54.498 points in four exercises. Silver went to French Lorette Charpy (54.166) and bronze to Ukrainian Diana Varinska (52.766). Young Belarusian gymnast Anastasiya Alistratava scored 50.165 points and finished in 12th place among 18 finalists.
Russian David Beliavskiy earned 85.465 points in six disciplines to win the Men's All-Round gold. Ukrainian Oleg Verniaiev placed second (84.632) and Russian Vladislav Poliashov third (84.464). The Belarusians did not participate in the Men's All-Around and will try their chances in individual events tomorrow, on 30 June.
