MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 27 Victoria Azarenka has reached the US Open round of last 16, BelTA has learned.
In the round of last 32 the former world number one took a solid win over Poland's Iga Swiatek, ranked world No.53, 6-4, 6-2 in one hour and 37 minutes.
Earlier, Victoria Azarenka cruised past Austria's world number 139 Barbara Haas, 6-1, 6-2, and saw off Belarus' world number 11 Aryna Sabalenka 6-1, 6-3.
Victoria Azarenka will next face world number 26 Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic.
Belarus' Aliaksandra Sasnovich (world No.106), Olga Govortsova (130), Vera Lapko (351), and Egor Gerasimov (72) have completed their US Open run.
The US Open in New York, with the total prize pool of $53.4 million, will complete on 13 September.
