MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – A ceremony to honor prominent former athletes and managers for their services to the promotion of sport and Olympic ideals took place during a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus on 16 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the NOC.
The NOC Certificate of Merit was bestowed upon former handball player and current head coach of the Belarusian national team Yuri Shevtsov to mark his 60th birthday.

The NOC letters of thanks went to Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Antonina Koshel and former Vice President of Belarus' NOC Semyon Shapiro for services to the development of the Olympic movement, mass and elite sport.
For services to the development of Olympic movement, mass and elite sport in Belarus the NOC medal For Outstanding Service was presented to Chairman of the Belarusian Canoe Association Valentin Baiko.
