MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – The National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has passed 20,000 face masks to the Council of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament.

The personal protective equipment was given to Belarus' Ambassador to Vietnam Vladimir Goshin by Chairman of the Office for Vietnam's National Assembly Nguyen Hanh Phuc on behalf of Chairperson of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. “The gratuitous aid from the Vietnamese parliament is a demonstration of friendship and support of Belarus' efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus infection. Belarus appreciations this help,” the press service noted.

Belarus and Vietnam have been maintaining friendly relations and interparliamentary contacts for many years. During the official visit of Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to Belarus in December 2019 she met with Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova. The parties reaffirmed mutual interest in strengthening cooperation, including interparliamentary contacts.
