Ukrainian journalist: West targets Russia, not Belarus

MINSK, 25 August (BelTA) – The situation in Belarus is following a scenario of a standard color revolution, Ukrainian journalist and publicist Maksym Ravreba said in an interview to the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“When in Gomel I was invited to speak at a rally for Lukashenko, I started by congratulating the people with Maidan that was brought to their country,” Maksym Ravreba said. “it is Maidan, indeed, a standard color revolution. In fact, we see Maidan unfolding in France with its yellow vests, and in Hong Kong with its umbrella revolution. This is a technology of controlling the masses. It is time tested. Now it is being implemented in Belarus,” he said.

According to the journalist, the post-Soviet space is in focus. The West continues its efforts to dissemble the Soviet Union and everything that has anything to do with it. “We saw this happen in Ukraine, in Tbilisi, in Moldova. It was not enough for them to divide the states along their borders established by the Soviet authorities. The backbone was destroyed in the 1990s. We were broken to pieces. All economic ties between the former Soviet states were thoroughly destroyed. They made sure that we did not restore these ties,” he said.

Maksym Ravreba is convinced that the West targets Russia, not Belarus and not Ukraine. “Taking a look at Ukraine, we see how enterprises that had connections with Russia are being destroyed. The most striking example is the Motor Sich plant, which, de facto, has been destroyed and does not exist any longer. It is a factory that produced aircraft engines and cooperated with Russia, but now there is no such an economic chain between Ukraine and Russia. Fencing off from Russia is one thing. However, it is important to understand the other thing. Their goal is to destroy the Soviet military-industrial complex, to do everything possible so that it would never get back on its feet. Economic ties are secondary for them,” he added.
