MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – The strongest demand for 4G mobile communications service during the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 is registered in the fan zone near the Sports Palace and in Oktyabrskaya Square, BelTA learned from Oleg Sedelnik, Director General of SOOO Belarusian Cloud Technologies (beCloud trademark), on 25 June.

According to the source, the fan zone near the Sports Palace consumes the largest amounts of data – 3.3TB per day on the average while Oktyabrskaya Square consumes over 2TB per day.

Customers used 6.5TB of data at sport venues and in fan zones on the opening day. Since the games began, the average speed in the 4G network has varied from 28Mbps to 42Mbps.

Oleg Sedelnik reminded that the LTE network had been upgraded in anticipation of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019. 4G service became available in the metro system. According to beCloud, data traffic consumption is highest at the metro stations Institut Kultury, Ploshchad Lenina, Molodezhnaya, Pervomaiskaya, and Grushevka.

Data consumption peaked during the opening ceremony since many customers had to download the augmented reality app the opening ceremony required. Nevertheless, the network's performance remains good and is constantly monitored. “In order to ensure quality and reliable fourth-generation communications service, we've used all the modern LTE technology solutions, which are available and have been tested in Belarus,” Oleg Sedelnik concluded.
