MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) - We will hold a massive anti-smoking campaign during the 2nd European Games, Anatoly Kotov, Deputy CEO of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC), said during a press conference dedicated to barrier-free environment and medical care provision during the games, BelTA has learned.

“During the games we will hold a huge campaign to promote a healthy lifestyle. We are planning a PR project when a smoker will be able to exchange cigarettes for souvenirs featuring the European Games symbols. We will also offer prizes to people who will give up smoking two months ahead of the 2nd European Games,” Anatoly Kotov said.

The campaign will be held jointly with the World Health Organization.

After the press conference, the certificates were presented to new Star Ambassadors of the 2nd European Games 2019: Miss Belarus 2018 Maria Vasilevich and honored master of sports, five-time Olympic medalist in fencing Alexander Romankov.

Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 199 medal events in 15 sports. Competitions in eight sports will serve as qualifiers for the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo.
