MOSCOW, 8 September (BelTA) – Calls on Russians not to buy products made in Belarus will fall flat, Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia Pavel Feldman told BelTA.

“Very few people in Russia might respond to such calls. These are people possessed by liberal pro-Western ideology who like public manifestations of aversion to their own state and aversion to its international partners. I think that these attempts will fall flat with the real people of Russia, because we all, including me, love Belarusian products and Belarusian consumer goods which quality awakens the memory of the heyday of the Soviet Union when everything was authentic, organic, eco-friendly and, most importantly, up to established standards. We all like them and we will not stop buying them. This also pertains to people living in Moscow. I see them enjoying their shopping in Belarusian stores where they buy foodstuffs and consumer goods. Therefore, these calls are nonsense,” Pavel Feldman said.

Commenting on the attempts to undermine the Belarusian economy, the expert noted that one can track the evolution of destructive technologies while monitoring Telegram channels. “Right after the election, they tried to obtain a ritual sacrifice as they wanted to make the international community believe that the government is a tyrant. They failed. After that they switched to the technology of the so-called peaceful protest: they stood on benches, rambled on squares, however it did not work either. Now they want the majority of Belarusians, ordinary workers, to experience economic issues. To this end, people are urged to boycott their jobs; there are also attempts to create a political turmoil. The opposition is acting in line with a classical revolution scenario: worse is better. Better for who? Better for the revolution, for themselves. They are trying to make ordinary people bear the economic cost of the quasi-revolutionary process and to make them blame the government for it, not the rebellious crowd. Unfortunately, this technology is one of the most effective, because it does not take much to undermine the economic stability,” the expert said.

“It is important to explain to workers who is to blame, who is responsible for economic losses,” he added.
