LOGOISK DISTRICT, 5 May (BelTA) – Over the past two months Belarusian doctors have gained valuable experience and are now confident that the country can cope with the challenge called COVID-19, Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko told reporters following the Day of Remembrance ceremony in the Khatyn memorial, BelTA has learned.

“I am planning to visit the central district hospital today to talk to doctors and see how they feel, how the work is organized and assistance is provided,” said Igor Petrishenko. He stressed that amid the coronavirus infection, it is important to provide both emergency care and also scheduled treatment of patients with various diseases.

“Our doctors have gained more experience in the process of treating patients with coronavirus over the past two months. The course of the disease is different in all cases. Doctors apply an individual approach. Treatment protocols are improved from patient to patient. Best practices are being implemented, and this gives good results. More than 3,000 people have recovered, they have coped with the infection. Many go to donate plasma to help others,” the deputy prime minister said.

According to him, the provision of equipment, including ventilators, personal protection equipment, medicines is under control. “Doctors have a stronger confidence that we will cope with the disease brought to us from the outside. We will overcome this challenge," Igor Petrishenko believes. He also noted that life goes on: businesses, institutions, every person and the whole state have plans and hope for the best.
