MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – Children account for less than 1% of coronavirus patients in Belarus, Deputy Healthcare Minister Yelena Bogdan told the media on 10 April, BelTA has learned.

Of all reported coronavirus cases in Belarus, less than 1% were children, Yelena Bogdan said. “We have not seen even moderate symptoms in children,” she emphasized.

Nevertheless, taking into consideration expertise and knowledge of other countries, the Healthcare Ministry developed a separate protocol to treat children diagnosed with coronavirus. Another similar document deals with handling of pregnant women and women in labor. “Maybe, our guidelines are a bit overabundant. However we passed them because we do not want to miss a single case and we want to keep all the patients on our radar,” Yelena Bogdan emphasized.
