MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – Belarusian State University (BSU) is implementing a project to improve the quality of medical education, BelTA has learned from the BSU press service.
The initiative “Setting peer review instruments and goals for medical (health) education” will be carried out under the Erasmus+ program. The program involves 14 universities of Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Bulgaria, and Lithuania. Belarus is represented by the International Sakharov Environmental Institute of the BSU and the Grodno State Medical University. The coordinator of the project is Batumi International University, Georgia.
The project is aimed at improving the quality of medical education in the partner countries. Representatives of the participating universities will analyze curricula and experience in training future doctors of their and European countries and draw up a single consistent system of peer review of the educational process. The project will result in setting up an international council for peer review of educational programs and processes. Its members will include specialists in clinical medicine, healthcare, social sciences, rehabilitation, paramedical disciplines as well as experts in academic and administrative matters of medical education. After the completion of the project, the council will continue operating as a reliable international reviewer of research papers and textbooks.
Plans are also in place to publish the annual research magazine “Peer review in medical education for Eastern Europe and Central Asia” meant for university teachers. The magazine will publish research, methodological solutions, and training complexes. This will help compare and improve approaches to education in various countries.
The implementation of this program will facilitate the internalization of universities and the development of teacher's academic potential.
