MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian Internal Affairs Ministry has released a statement to comment on the fact that a large number of police personnel had been awarded the Medal for Impeccable Service, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel of Olga Chemodanova, the ministry's press secretary.
The message reads: “Some Telegram channels and websites pull no punches in an attempt to put a negative spin on reports about Impeccable Service Medals bestowed upon police personnel in line with Belarus president decree No.305. We would like to inform the public that papers on awarding the police personnel were submitted to the Council of Ministers in line with the established procedure back in March 2020. Merits and service records of each officer, their personal contributions to reinforcing the law and order in the country were evaluated for the medals to be awarded.”
The source noted that Medals for Impeccable Service (1st class, 2nd class, and 3rd class) are bestowed upon police officers and military personnel with an impeccable service record after 10, 15, and 20 years of service respectively. In line with the presidential decree the medals went to personnel of the Central Office of the Minsk City Police Department, to police personnel in the regions, various territorial police departments, departments and educational institutions of the Internal Affairs Ministry, military personnel of the internal troops of the Internal Affairs Ministry that serve in various divisions (criminal police, public security police, legal departments, human resources, finance, logistics and support, medical services, professors and lectors).
