MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – All cases of abuse of power by the police will be investigated fully and thoroughly, BelTA learned from the Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus.

The Prosecutor General's Office is receiving numerous police misconduct complaints.

“In line with the Criminal Procedures Code, these complaints are sent to the Investigative Committee for consideration. All cases of abuse of power by the police will be fully and thoroughly investigated. The prosecution bodies will make sure these complaints will be processed in a proper manner,” the Prosecutor General's Office noted.

The Prosecutor General's Office is also working with people who cannot find their relatives or friends after the last week's protests. The Prosecutor General's Office joined forces with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to release the people detained on the grounds of having committed administrative offenses during the unauthorized rallies.

“Almost all these persons have already been released,” the Prosecutor General's Office said.

The office also presented the list of people who were given administrative sentences. The relevant information will be updated.
