Belarus' Interior Ministry: Unsanctioned rally blocked MTZ employees from entering plant

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – Participants of an unsanctioned rally held near the Minsk Tractor Plant (Works) (MTZ trademark) on the morning of 19 August blocked MTZ workers from entering the plant, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel of Olga Chemodanova, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in her Telegram channel.

Police officers arrived on the scene, warned the rally participants about the violation of the law and asked them to leave. “Some citizens ignored the calls of the police. To stop the illegal actions, the police pushed the crowd back and detained two of the most active participants. One of them turned out to be an unemployed resident of Volkovysk,” Olga Chemodanova said.

“Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the detainees for violating the rules of organizing or holding mass events. The administrative offence cases will be sent to the court,” she added.
