Belarus' Independence Day program in Moscow adjusted amid pandemic

MOSCOW, 1 July (BelTA) – We have made serious adjustments to the traditional events, which are held annually in Moscow to celebrate Belarus' Independence due to the pandemic, Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko said as he took part in an online briefing held on 1 July in the run-up to Belarus' Independence Day, BelTA has learned.

“Indeed, this pandemic of coronavirus has made us adjust the program,” Vladimir Semashko said. “We always hold a reception at the embassy on the eve of 3 July for up to 500 people and even more. We would celebrate in a proper way, following the Slavic tradition. This year there are certain restrictions in Moscow and in Russia as a whole, and we follow them,” he said.

The diplomat noted that the embassy is preparing to celebrate Independence Day using modern technological capabilities. “We have prepared a virtual platform, the necessary materials that reflect the history of Belarus," he said. “Please visit our website or social media accounts to see musical pieces by Belarusian performers and the festive online program,” the ambassador noted.
