POLOTSK, 12 June (BelTA) – It is necessary to simplify the terms of acquisition of land plots outside big cities. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions during the government conference held on 12 June to discuss the development of the housing and utilities industry, BelTA has learned.
The president remarked that there are a sufficient number of picturesque places in Belarus where small land plots can be acquired, including in villages and isolated farmsteads, for the sake of home gardening or picnics. The value of such land plots has increased in the current complicated epidemic situation.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “The pandemic has encouraged people to go to villages and start buying these land parcels. I would like to address Belarusians. I don't want them to lose the ability to buy a piece of land in a village or a remote isolated farmstead, restore a dilapidated house, or build a small simple house there in order to go there for the weekend, let old parents spend some time over there like now, during the pandemic.”
“You shouldn't get rid of the household plots where you were born and lived. If they are abandoned, feel free to buy them. They don't cost much these days. You can make a fortune out of these land plots tomorrow,” Aleksandr Lukashenko continued. In his words, citizens of neighboring countries, for instance, Russia and Ukraine, are already buying the land plots since they understand the value of such acquisitions.
The head of state instructed the government to consider the possibility of simplifying the terms of buying land plots outside cities for the Belarusians, who would like to invest in it. These decisions should be made without delays at the municipal level. “Pay money and get your land ownership certificate,” the president identified the main principle.
“The matter needs serious attention,” Aleksandr Lukashenko summed up.
