Lukashenko: Harvest campaign should be completed on time

VITEBSK, 15 July (BelTA) – The harvest campaign should be well-coordinated and completed on time, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with top officials and executives of Vitebsk Oblast on 15 July, BelTA has learned.

The head of state hailed the progress in the agricultural sector across the country and in Vitebsk Oblast in particular. “The country looks different from the helicopter this year. I am happy with the progress in Vitebsk Oblast. The fields are treated well. The harvest is good. We should step up the work to harvest grain crops, notwithstanding the election campaign. The elections will end. We will need to have something to eat after 9 August. We cannot waste this year. It is very important for Vitebsk Oblast,” the head of state noted.

At the same time, the president warned that harvesting will not be easy, especially in Vitebsk Oblast given its agro-climatic conditions. “There are more than 1,300,000 tonnes of grain in the fields, as the governor said. Vitebsk Oblast needs to harvest this grain and make the stocks of at least 100,000 tonnes,” the head of state said.
