YELSK DISTRICT, 26 April (BelTA) – A realistic program of Belarus' social and economic development for 2016-2020 will be discussed at the Belarusian People's Congress, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko told reporters on 26 April, BelTA has learned.
“The program will be absolutely realistic. We will make plans taking into account our potential. There is no doubt that we will be able to step up efforts. Recent modernization is the pillar of our efforts,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
The President noted that not only animal husbandry and agriculture have been modernized in Belarus. Huge funds have been injected into the upgrade of the manufacturing sector.
Alexander Lukashenko is convinced that because of the cyclic development of the global economy crises will be definitely followed by the economic growth. “It will help us enhance our potential because a big number of modernized enterprises should yield results. And we will not stand still. In spite of all the difficulties, our main objective is to modernize and upgrade production processes using innovative technologies,” the head of state said.
The President also emphasized that a large-scale approach is needed to evaluate the results of the social and economic development of Belarus. Several five-year periods should be taken into consideration. “We are saying a lot about the crisis and often forget to mention what has been done in this period. We have done a lot. With this in mind, we need to make a serious breakthrough,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
When commenting on the statements that it would be better to cancel the Belarusian People's Congress in this difficult period of time, Alexander Lukashenko said: “People need guidelines in such periods of time. We must show them how we will live tomorrow. We should not be afraid of telling the truth about loose ends.”
“We are developing a realistic program. This realistic program should show us a way out from the current situation and help us move forward,” the President concluded.
