FM: Belarus seeks closer ties with Hungary

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei has reaffirmed Belarus' commitment to expanding cooperation with Hungary. The statement was made at the meeting with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto on 3 March, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian foreign minister welcomed progress in bilateral trade and expressed hope that the positive trends will remain in place. In order to maintain momentum, the parties want to explore new avenues of cooperation.

Peter Szijjarto emphasized that Hungary is interested in closer cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union. “The fact that Belarus and Hungary have good political contacts creates good groundwork for promoting economic cooperation,” he said.
