MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) – The only way to effectively confront the pandemic is by joining efforts, Russian President Vladimir Putin said as he addressed a video conference meeting of members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on 14 April, BelTA has learned.
“Only by bringing the international community together that we can effectively confront the pandemic. We consider close cooperation between the EAEU member states to be extremely important,” the Russian leader said.
He also thanked Belarus for the initiative to hold the video conference.
The Russian president noted that the pandemic has had a negative impact on all aspects of life around the world: economy, social sector. The mobility of the population has decreased, trade in goods and services has become difficult, global financial and commodity markets are subject to volatility, the burden on the healthcare system has increased significantly. "As we can see, some of our countries are taking truly extraordinary measures," Vladimir Putin added.
