On 26 April Minsk played host to an event to mark the 34th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear accident. The commemorative ceremony was held at the Minsk Park of Friendship of Peoples. Flowers at the memorial were laid by representatives of the Belarus President's Administration, the Council of Ministers, the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, the Emergencies Ministry and the Minsk City Hall.
