The business of Belarus and Ukraine has a promising common future

The business of Belarus and Ukraine has a common promising future, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich said at the opening of the Belarusian-Ukrainian business forum on 21 July, BelTA has learned.

“The forum has gathered a record number of businessmen. It is important that the event is held as part of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Ukraine. It is a serious sign for the business community of the two countries. Despite all the difficulties and fears, we must move forward. We have not only a history of a common success, when we talk about 2012, but also a promising common future, both for the countries and business,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.

The Belarusian delegation has comprised directors of the majority of the leading industrial companies, including MAZ, BelAZ, and Gomselmash. “We consider the participation of our business delegation in the forum as a new serious step as well as the fulfillment of the instructions we get from the government and the head of state,” said Vladimir Ulakhovich.

“We have a positive history that we can use as a basis. We have a consultative council, a unique instrument to support business relations. Today we are going to hold another meeting. It is important that we discuss not only common problems but also the issues of concrete companies,” he said.

Vladimir Ulakhovich named regional cooperation as another important element. “Regional contacts mean a lot and we will be making a focus on them,” said the chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Kiev is hosting the Belarusian-Ukrainian business forum on 21 July. Among the registered participants are nearly 90 Belarusian and over 380 Ukrainian companies.
