New high-productivity jobs allow for high salaries, Chairman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Kravtsov told BelTA when commenting on the meeting held on 2 March to hear out the reports of the government, the National Bank, the oblast executive committees and Minsk City Hall on the economic performance in 2017 and goals to secure the country's sustainable economic growth.
“The head of state has set forth a number of urgent tasks before the executive branch. They are common to all regions, including Grodno Oblast. I would call three key factors that people are most concerned with: employment, wages and prices,” Vladimir Kravtsov said.
“As for employment, Grodno Oblast has been tasked with creating new jobs. These should be high-productivity jobs with high salaries,” the governor said. Another important goal is to raise salaries in the social sector.
“There are enough levers to control pricing. Among them are the regional agencies of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade. The prices should be under control everywhere. There are many factors that can influence price changes, including sellers' mercantile decisions. Such cases require an immediate response,” Vladimir Kravtsov said.
