MPs should be people with certain experience under their belt

MPs should be people will certain experience under their belt, Brest Oblast Governor Anatoly Lis told media on 11 September, BelTA has learned.

“In my opinion it should be a person who has go through a certain school of life, has an experience of serving at some post. It should be a responsible person who goes to the parliament to make life in the region better and not to pursue his/her own political ambitions,” Anatoly Lis noted.

In his words, lawmaking is very important. “Today we witness a complicated economic situation in the country and outside its borders. The legislative base should keep abreast. There is a need for laws to promote the development of small and medium-sized business, industry, and agricultural companies. These matters should be considered in the parliament and addressed in a calm atmosphere,” the Governor added.

The Governor cast his vote at polling station No.1 of Brestsko-Zapadny constituency No.1. Anatoly Lis had to choose out of six candidates on the constituency.

According to Chairman of the precinct election commission Romuald Zhabinsky, over a fourth of the voters in the constituency cast their ballots early.

Voting in the Belarus' parliament elections is underway at 928 polling stations of Brest Oblast.
