Historians have yet to comprehend the full value of Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia

Historians have yet to comprehend the full value of Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia for the fate of the millions of people that live in the two countries, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov on 31 March.

This year the Union State of Belarus and Russia will mark an anniversary. It has been twenty years since the agreement to form the commonwealth of Belarus and Russia was signed on 2 April 1996 to give start to the integration of the two economies on a large scale. Unity Day signifies the affinity of the brotherly nations, noted Alexander Surikov.

“History scholars and philosophers have yet to truly comprehend the value of this day, this event for the fate of the millions of residents of Russia and Belarus. They have yet to understand what this day truly stands for in our society,” believes the Ambassador.

Alexander Surikov said he was confident that the Union State of Belarus and Russia will remain an example of advanced economic integration, including in the Eurasian Economic Union.
