The grounds for draft deferments in Belarus should be revised; there number is too big now, member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Sergei Bobrikov told reporters, BelTA has learned.
The demographic situation is quite complicated, the MP said. “There is a great shortage of draftees. The grounds for draft deferments should certainly be revised, as there are too many draft deferments, especially educational deferments. All full-age young men used to be in the army in the not so distant past. I don't see any problem if a man is drafted while being a university student,” Sergei Bobrikov noted.
“It is a problem when we have weapons, ammunition, equipment, but nobody knows how to use them. I believe that everyone should know how to defend the homeland,” the MP added.
