Belarus is creating excellent conditions for developing the 21st century digital economy

Belarus is creating top-level conditions for the development of IT and the 21st century digital economy, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk noted at the international conference on the role of MPs in boosting economic cooperation and cultural ties along the Silk Road in Baku, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

Boleslav Pirshtuk underlined that Belarus has been revising the legislation to enable top-level conditions for the development IT and the 21st century digital economy. “We have been introducing cutting-edge financial instruments and technologies to attract funds and skilled specialists from across the globe,” the MP remarked.

He touched upon mutually beneficial cooperation and trade. According to Boleslav Pirshtuk, the initiative to set up a Silk Road Support Group voiced at the OSCE PA 26th Annual Session in Minsk in 2017 was well-timed. “It gives us an additional instrument to strengthen sovereignty, security, prosperity, and economic development. These fundamental principles lay the basis of Belarus' multi-vector foreign policy,” the deputy speaker said. Peace and security are based, first of all, on sustainable economic development and people's wellbeing. “This is what we were bearing in mind when we co-established the Silk Road Support Group,” he stated.

Boleslav Pirshtuk had a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference. He met with OSCE PA Chairman George Tsereteli and Secretary General Roberto Montella to discuss interaction between the Belarusian parliament and the OSCE PA. He also conducted negotiations with Mongolia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Damdin Tsogtbaatar to exchange opinions on the current state and prospects of Belarus-Mongolia relations. The deputy speaker also met with the delegations of Austria, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Tajikistan, and Switzerland.

Ahead of the conference, Boleslav Pirshtuk held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary of Belarus to Azerbaijan Gennady Akhramovich to discuss topical issues of Belarus-Azerbaijan cooperation.

The conference is organized by Azerbaijan's National Assembly in cooperation with the OSCE PA Silk Road Support Group.
