Belarus combats corruption very efficiently, Belarusian Internal Affairs Minister Igor Shunevich told reporters prior to a meeting of the board of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, BelTA has learned.
“The country is fighting against this social plague consistently and efficiently. We are as transparent as today's situation requires. Our work gets extensive media coverage and we do not hide anything. Therefore, one might get a feeling that we have some extraordinary situation with corruption in general. It is absolutely wrong – Belarus' rankings in this regard are not the worst,” the minister said.
According to Igor Shunevich, there is certainly room for improvement. “Nevertheless, efficiency of the anti-corruption effort in Belarus is very high. This is confirmed by international experts as well,” he stated.
According to the minister, the history shows that it is impossible to eradicate this social ill. “However, we are absolutely capable of curbing and controlling it. And that is what we are already doing,” he emphasized.
