Advanced development concept underlies forward movement in Belarus

The concept of advanced development provides a basis for Belarus' forward movement, Associate Professor of Humanities at the Brest State Technical University, PhD in Law Yekaterina Rechits noted while commenting on the President's State of the Nation Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly.

“In terms of the development of the economy and other sectors, the president makes an emphasis on the concept of advanced development. This is an entirely new approach that Belarus is just beginning to apply. The point is to encourage the Belarusians to be ahead of the curve: attract brains, ideas, get into the lead in certain areas. For example, the digital economy development ordinance has created a legal framework for building an IT-country in Belarus. The concept of advanced development is not just a guide to action. This is a certain philosophical idea that provides the methodological and instrumental basis for certain action,” Yekaterina Rechits said.

Public viewing of the president's state of the nation was held in the conference hall of the university. Representatives of the faculty and members of the Belaya Rus public association gathered in the hall to listen to the president. “We have a tradition: when the president delivers the address or when there are other important national events, students and professors gather in the conference hall to watch the broadcast,” said Evgeny Polishchuk, an education specialist working with international students.

He pointed out that the State of the Nation Address is an event that makes you think about Belarus' role in the world, about the country's domestic and foreign policy. “The president always holds frank discussions with the country's citizens. It is impressive. He addresses the existing problems that need solving. Otherwise there will be no way forward,” said Evgeny Polishchuk.

Anatoly Moshchuk, Head of the Department of Humanities of Brest State Technical University, drew attention to the key problems outlined by the head of state. “Economy is the priority now. If there is economic stability, there will be the social and political ones /a stable society and stable politics?. I think, and it was mentioned in the address, that one of the main goals is to solve economic issues. Both state authorities and diplomats concentrate on this,” noted Anatoly Moshchuk.
