Road safety assurance concept Kind Road

Minsk does better than Rome and Vilnius but lags behind Stockholm and Berlin as far as road traffic safety is concerned. The fact is confirmed by statistics (the number of people killed in traffic accidents per 100,000 residents in 2015):

Stockholm - 1.1;

Brussels - 1.1;

Berlin - 1.4;

Amsterdam - 1.8;

Warsaw - 2;

Minsk - 2.2;

Tallinn - 2.8;

Kiev - 4.4;

Rome - 4.9;

Riga - 5.3;

Moscow - 5.5;

Vilnius - 6.

The number of people killed in traffic accidents (per year):

2010 - 68;

2011 - 73;

2012 - 72;

2013 - 51;

2014 - 44;

2015 - 41;

January-October 2016 – 36.

The main purpose of the new city road safety assurance concept Kind Road in 2016-2020 will be to reduce the number of fatal traffic accident victims in Minsk by 60% (annual targets in the concept):

2010 - 68;

2011 - 62;

2012 - 61;

2013 - 58;

2014 - 50;

2015 - 45;

2016 - 40;

2017 - 36;

2018 - 33;

2019 - 29;

2020 - 25.
