OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

Minsk will welcome the 26th session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) on 5-9 July.

The session will focus on enhancing mutual trust and cooperation in the name of peace and prosperity in the OSCE region.

About 700 visitors are expected, including 300 MPs from North America, Europe, and Asia.

The OSCE PA's largest event is the annual session that will take several days and will end with the adoption of the Minsk declaration. The political document will lay down recommendations for national governments, parliaments, and the international community on responding to pressing challenges and threats.

The OSCE PA's work will be organized in three general committees:

committee on democracy, human rights, and humanitarian affairs;

committee on economic affairs, science, technology, and environment;

committee on political affairs and security.

OSCE PA in figures:

founded in 1991,

2 annual sessions (winter and summer),

57 member states,

budget of €3.2 million in the 2016-2017 financial year.

The OSCE PA offers a venue for parliamentary dialogue, supervises election monitoring missions and builds up international cooperation for the sake of honoring commitments in politics, security, economy, environmental protection, and human rights.
