Minsk International Book Fair

The 24th edition of Minsk International Book Fair will take place from 8 to 12 February and showcase publishing industry products from 31 countries.

The organizers expect broad participation from Russia, Germany, China, Iran, and the United States. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will be the Guest of Honor, with Greece making its debut.

This year's event will be themed around celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing, birth anniversaries of the eminent Belarusian poets Yakub Kolas and Yanka Kupala.

The program of the fair:

3rd international literature symposium Writer and Time;

young writers' workshop;

ceremony to honor winners of the 56th nationwide contest Art of the Book, and the debut edition of the contest of young writers Pershatsvet (An Early Flower);

other events.

Some 9,600 book titles were published in Belarus in 2016 (a total of 23 million copies).

The country's publishing market saw over 1,100 new book and booklet titles in the Belarusian language with the total number of copies exceeding 3.7 million.
