According to a sample survey of the living standards of Belarusian households, in Q1 2018 disposable resources* per household totaled Br1,135.9 per month. Including Br1,211.9 per month in towns and cities and Br940.4 per month in rural areas.
Cash expenses per household per month reached Br1,063.8, including Br806.1 (75.8%) due to consumer spending**.
The breakdown of consumer spending:
food – 40.8%;
non-food — 29.8%;
services — 26.2%.
In April 2018:
- Belarus' population totaled some 9,484,300 people as of 1 April 2018;
- nominal accrued average salary totaled Br921;
- the number of employed citizens totaled some 4,336,500 people;
- the number of registered unemployed totaled 21,800 people;
- the registered unemployment totaled 0.5% of the workforce.
*Disposable resources — monetary assets of households, the cost of privately grown and consumed food minus the material cost of growing this food and the cost of privileges and bonuses received in kind.
**Consumer spending — the money spent by households on food (including public catering), alcohol, tobacco products, non-foods, and services.
