Belarus in the Doing Business ranking

Belarus is ranked 37th out of the 190 economies covered by the World Bank's Doing Business 2017 report. Belarus has improved its standing by 13 points in comparison with the previous year according to the latest report released by the World Bank Group.

Belarus' score in the ten key indicators of the ranking*:

Registering Property — 5 (7 in the Doing Business 2016 report);

Getting Electricity — 24 (74);

Enforcing Contracts — 27 (28);

Getting Construction Permits — 28 (25);

Trading Across Borders — 30 (30);

Starting a Business — 31 (30);

Protecting Minority Investors — 42 (62);

Resolving Insolvency — 69 (95);

Paying Taxes — 99 (95);

Getting Credit — 101 (109).

World Bank representatives underlined that Belarus was one of the world's top ten countries in the implementation of reforms conducive to doing business.

In the Doing Business 2017 report New Zealand boasts the top score. It is followed by Singapore. The top ten also includes Denmark, Hong Kong (China), the Republic of Korea, Norway, UK, USA, Sweden and Macedonia.

Among the ex-USSR countries Estonia boasts the top score (12). It is followed by Latvia (14), Georgia (16), Lithuania (21), Kazakhstan (35), Armenia (38), Russia (40), Moldova (44), Azerbaijan (65), Kyrgyzstan (75), Ukraine (80), Uzbekistan (87), and Tajikistan (128).

The Doing Business 2017 report covers reforms implemented from 2 June 2015 through 1 June 2016.
