Forests are one of Belarus' most important natural resources.

All forests are publicly owned in Belarus.

The total area of forest lands in Belarus is 9.6 million hectares

Standing volume is 1.8 billion m3

Average age is 56 years

Volume per capita :

1ha of forest lands

186 m3 of forest resources

Forests account for 39.8% of Belarus' territory.

Forest coverage per region (in % of the region's total area)*:

Gomel Oblast – 47.1%

Vitebsk Oblast - 41%

Minsk Oblast – 38.4%

Mogilev Oblast – 38.2%

Brest Oblast – 36.2%

Grodno Oblast – 35.2%

Most forested district is Rossony District, Vitebsk Oblast (71.3%).

Forest reproduction in Belarus:

414.7 million seedlings of standard planting stock were grown in forest nurseries*
