Alexander Lukashenko tops CIS leaders' approval rating in Russia

According to the opinion poll conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VtsIOM), Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is the most popular CIS leader with the 65% approval rating in Russia.

Alexander Lukashenko - 65%

Nursultan Nazarbayev - 49%

Ilham Aliyev - 14%

Armen Sarkissian - 8%

Igor Dodon - 7%

Shavkat Mirziyoyev - 6%

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow - 4%

Giorgi Margvelashvili - 4%

Sooronbay Jeenbekov - 3%

Emomali Rahmon- 3%

Petro Poroshenko – 1%.

The Russians also called Belarus the most successful and most stable country in the CIS:

Belarus - 68%

Kazakhstan - 52%

Azerbaijan - 16%

Armenia 14%

Georgia-12%

Uzbekistan - 10%

Turkmenistan - 8%

Kyrgyzstan - 5%

Tajikistan - 5%

Moldova - 4%

Ukraine – 2%.

The results of the poll suggest that Belarus is the most reliable CIS partner of Russia in the international arena. The Russians also believe that the interests of the Russian-speaking population in the CIS are best protected in Belarus.

VtsIOM carried out the opinion poll by telephone on 8 November 2018. The survey involved 1,600 people.
