From 22 to 30 December, Jews of Belarus and the world observe Hannukah which celebrates the miraculous salvation of the Jewish people from spiritual death. Over the centuries, the holiday received a lot of interpretations and inspired a lot of legends. However, it commemorates a definite and historically accurate event – the recapturing of the Temple in Jerusalem in 164 BC.
