MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) – The industrial sector of Belarus starts to recover, Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov told the media on the sidelines of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council's meeting on 17 July, BelTA has learned.

“The industry is beginning to recover in terms of production and supply,” said Aleksandr Chervyakov. In particular, the recovery was facilitated by contracts to supply potash fertilizers to India and China, and the restoration of oil refining levels.

According to the minister, Belarus may reach zero growth of gross domestic product at the end of this year after the GDP decline by 1.7% in H1 2020.

Aleksandr Chervyakov said that Belarus may show growth in GDP given a favorable situation. “In September, we will be able to say what results we will have [at the end of 2020],” he explained.

Aleksandr Chervyakov confirmed that the Economy Ministry had started working on the 2021 forecast. “We are projected the GDP growth. In fact, it will be an economic development plan,” the minister said.
