MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – In July 2020 Belarusian Railways increased the volume of container transportation by 1.5 times in comparison with July 2019 to 93,100 containers in terms of twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), the Belarusian Railways press service told BelTA.
Belarusian Railways secured positive dynamics of container transportation in January-July 2020. The volume of container transportation increased by 1.3 times to 511,800 TEUs. The export of products of Belarusian companies in loaded containers increased by 1.2 times.
The amount of containers transported between China and Europe in transit via Belarus totaled 50,300 TEUs in July, 1.7 times up from July 2019. The amount of containers transported between Europe and China via Belarus in January-July 2020 increased by 1.5 times from the same period of last year to 270,400 TEUs.
Hard work is in progress in 2020 in order to increase the volume of Belarusian mercantile export to China. Belarusian Railways works with interested Belarusian companies to continue developing projects for the delivery of timber industry products, meat and dairy products, and other products in demand to China.
