Belarusian ambassador visits Russia's Kemerovo Oblast, Sakhalin Island

MOSCOW, 31 August (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko visited Kemerovo Oblast (Kuzbass) and the Sakhalin Island on 24-29 August, the embassy's press service told BelTA.

During the visit Russia's largest technical support center of the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ was opened in Belovo District, Kemerovo Oblast. Events were arranged for the sake of further advancing trade and economic cooperation with Kuzbass. Future deliveries of haul trucks and aftersales service were discussed.

Belarusian Industry Minister Piotr Parkhomchik participated in negotiations with heads of mining and extracting companies. The sides discussed current shipments and future shipments of mining machines to the Russian region.

While on the Sakhalin Island, the Belarusian delegation visited the open-pit coal mine Solntsevsky where 14 new Belarusian haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 220 tonnes started working a short while ago. The Belarusian delegation met with the management of the mining company. Future technical partnership was discussed.

Close attention was paid to matters of agribusiness cooperation. The delegation visited the agricultural enterprise Korsakovsky and a unique agrotown that had been built by Belarusian specialists. Agreements in principle were reached on stepping up mutually beneficial regional cooperation.
