MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave China President Xi Jinping a bronze statuette of a stock and a basket of food products grown in the agro-town of Alexandria as a birthday gift, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping met in Bishkek on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. The leaders of Belarus and China not only discussed the official agenda but also exchanged presents.
The Belarusian president gave China President Xi Jinping a bronze statuette of a stock as a present for the Chinese president's birthday which he marks on 15 June.
The bird is a frequent character in both the Belarusian and Chinese art. The stock is a symbol of wisdom and longevity, happiness and wellbeing. The bird is also considered a guardian spirit of home bringing concord and prosperity to its inhabitants. The Belarusian president also presented the Chinese leader with a basket of food products grown in his native town of Alexandria.
A friendly meeting between Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping emphasized a distinctive aspect of cooperation between Belarus and China and also the relations between the two leaders.More about President
