Rahmon joins meeting of Lukashenko, Putin

MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) – Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon is in Belarus on an official visit. He has joined the meeting of the leaders of Belarus and Russia Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, BelTA has learned.

The meeting is being held in the state residence Zaslavl in an informal setting. The meeting is taking place in a gazebo gifted by Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned plans to arrange a meeting in this format during negotiations with Emomali Rahmon in Minsk on 28 June. He said: “There is a great deal of matters you and I could discuss today. I think Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin may join these negotiations. The three of us could talk together. I don't think you will mind. We also have things to discuss within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Collective Security Treaty Organization, our defensive union.”

After the meeting the three heads of state are expected to attend the closing ceremony of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 in the Dinamo Stadium.
