Putin: Record high trade for Belarus, Russia this year

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are on track towards a record high trade. This year it can reach $40 billion, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 19 December, BelTA has learned.

According to the Russian leader, last year the trade rose by a third and reached $38.5 billion, and in January-October of this year it has grown by another 10%. Therefore, there is reason to believe that this year we will hit a new record trade of $ 40 billion.

"I would like to note what everyone is already well aware of. But still, it should be emphasized that Belarus is not only our good neighbor, with whom we have been working, taking each other's interests into account, in previous decades, but is, of course, our ally in the truest sense of the word," Vladimir Putin stressed. He added that it is on the basis of this premise that all issues between the states are resolved, including in the economy.

"We have indeed recently attached a lot of attention to security issues, cooperation in the international arena. In general, we are satisfied with our relations on this track."

At the talks in Minsk, the parties, according to the president, intend to sum up some results of the work of governments and other ministries in various fields, and above all in the economy: "We must sum up some results today, and if some issues remain unresolved, find the solutions. We, in fact, came to Minsk in order to search for them together and achieve the desired results.
