Putin confirms plans to send Belarusian cosmonaut to space in 2023

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed plans to send a Belarusian cosmonaut to space in 2023 as he spoke to the media after his talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 19 December, BelTA has learned.

“Next year, as we have agreed, a Belarusian cosmonaut is scheduled to fly to the orbital station,” the Russian head of state said.

The Russian leader said that Aleksandr Lukashenko had accepted his invitation to visit the cosmonaut training center in Russia in the coming days ahead the CIS informal summit in St. Petersburg. “Aleksandr Grigoryevich, if I understood you right, has accepted my invitation to visit a cosmonaut training center in Russia in the coming days in the run-up to the informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg,” Vladimir Putin said.
