New Supreme Court building inaugurated in Minsk

MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – The official inauguration of a new building of the Supreme Court took place in Minsk on 5 April, BelTA has learned.

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko was joined by Supreme Court Chairman Valentin Sukalo and Minsk Mayor Anatoly Sivak to cut the ribbon.

Aleksandr Lukashenko was given a tour of the new building of the Supreme Court, saw its halls and offices. The president was interested in how the conditions for judicial activity had been improved in the new building.

The chairman of the Supreme Court updated the head of state on the novelties, including new technology.

“I wish you every success,” the president said.

The construction project owner was the Minsk City Hall. The general contractor was construction trust No.4. The five-storey building has an assembly hall for 374 seats, a plenum hall for 110 seats, a presidium hall for 43 seats, and offices on the first floor. The other floors feature offices, 16 courtrooms with associated premises, a reception hall for delegations, technological and engineering premises, and a library.

The facility is fitted with a modern hardware and software complex, which includes information systems that are responsible for the support of the most important activities of the Supreme Court and the entire system of general courts. It is a complex multimedia system that is designed for conducting events (meetings, sessions, conferences, hearings) of any level, audio accompaniment, video broadcast, record-keeping and documentation.

The complex will help the automated information system of general courts become a source of information for other government bodies and organizations. Its application will improve the level of the operation of the Supreme Court of Belarus to meet modern requirements for legal proceedings.

Belarusian materials, elevators, furniture, chandeliers, and art products were mainly used for the construction project.
