New appointments for Grodno Oblast, Minsk Oblast approved

MINSK, 30 April (BelTA) - Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave his consent to the appointment of heads of local executive and administrative bodies on 30 April, BelTA has learned.

Yuri Valevatyi has been appointed First Vice Governor of Grodno Oblast. He was promoted from the position of Chairman of the Mosty District Executive Committee.

Denis Kurlenko has been appointed Minsk Oblast Vice Governor. He earlier served as head of the Economy Committee at the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

Dmitry Zakharchuk has been appointed head of Voronovo District. He previously held the post of First Deputy Chairman - Head of the Agriculture and Food Department at the Volkovysk District Executive Committee.

Igor Bobyr is the new head of the Administration of the Leninsky District of Grodno. His previous place of work was Grodno Azot, where he worked as General Director from September 2017 to January 2021.

Aleksandr Lukashenko asked the heads of the local authorities about the progress of the sowing campaign in some regions. The current weather conditions, the state of winter crops, and the sowing campaign pace were discussed in detail. The president set the task to accelerate the sowing and to complete it by 9 May. “We cannot protract the sowing campaign. The proverb says: a day feeds a year,” the president said.

He also drew attention to efficient and rational use of agricultural equipment, which must be serviced in time and should not be allowed to stand idle.

While making personnel decisions, the head of state asked about the social and political situation in the regions. In particular, the matter pertained to the situation in Grodno. The local authorities stressed that the situation was calm.

“I guess those who got there by accident [the matter concerns people to took part in the unauthorized protests in the second half of 2020] have already understood everything,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. He warned the local authorities to pay special attention to work with people. Everyone should draw appropriate conclusions from what has happened in the country. “We know who is who, who we can work with. We need to pay attention to this,” the president said.
