MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Igor Dodon, the president of Moldova that has the EAEU observer status, has supported Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko's idea to hold the upcoming session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council as a face-to-face meeting rather than via a video conference as he met with the Belarusian president on 4 May, BelTA has learned.

The summit is set to take place in Minsk on 19 May. “Of course, it would be better to have a face-to-face session, to meet and talk. Because there is a lot to talk about and exchange experience in view of the current situation. If our colleagues decide to meet in person, I will gladly attend,” Igor Dodon noted.

The Moldovan president also said that if he comes to Minsk, he will find the time to take part in the ceremony to unveil a monument to Hero of the Soviet Union Ion Soltys, a native of Moldova. “Perhaps, we will unveil this monument as we are celebrating the anniversary of the Great Victory,” he noted.

“This is no obstacle for me. It depends on our colleagues. If they decide in favor of a face-to-face meeting, I will attend. If they opt for this format [a video conference], we will hold it this way. If the session is moved to June or some other time then… It will be as you suggest,” Igor Dodon added.
