In his address Alexander Lukashenko noted that a lot of significant events have happened in the course of the work of the Belarusian diplomatic service. The signing of the UN Charter in 1945 and Belarus becoming a founding member of the United Nations Organization were the most significant ones.

The message reads: “The development of national diplomacy is inalienably linked to the establishment of Belarusian statehood, the accomplishment of tasks to ensure equal integration of our country into the global political, economic, scientific, cultural, and informational space. In the years of independence the Republic of Belarus secured noticeable accomplishments in the international scene. The country preserved and bolstered its traditional ties, expanded the circle of foreign partners and allies, became a party to integration projects, many uniting international initiatives, opened and mastered new promising markets, and earned a reputation as a donor of regional security.”

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that these accomplishments owe a lot to the diplomats, who worked hard, demonstrated outstanding professional skills and a responsible attitude to more than once reaffirm the ability to protect Belarus' legal interests, rights and freedoms of its citizens abroad.

The head of state said he was confident that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will remain at the forefront of the fight for Belarus' sovereignty and genuine independence, for enhancing Belarus' role in the world.

Alexander Lukashenko congratulated personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Belarus' diplomatic missions abroad on the anniversary. He wished them strong health, happiness, and success in their work for the benefit of the motherland. He found special words of gratitude for veterans of the diplomatic service, who had made a considerable contribution to the development of Belarusian diplomacy and had set an example of service to the fatherland.
