Lukashenko: We've held an election, there will be no other

MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – An election has been held in Belarus and there will be no other. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement while talking to employees of Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT for short) on 17 August, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “You won't see me doing anything under pressure. There will be no [election]. Because there will be no MZKT, no MAZ, no BelAZ. We will destroy everything within half a year. An election does not contribute to a normal situation. Besides, there is a bunch of problems now.”

“The election proceeded in a civilized manner. 80% of the votes cannot be falsified,” the Belarusian leader stressed.

“I know, I understand what is going on. This is why let's talk about essential things. You are hardworking people. You know me, too. You've always supported the president. I know it. Maybe not everyone supported me. But remember this, I will say it as a man (hear me out first and do what you like after that): betrayal is the most dreadful thing in life. I don't want to reproach you for betraying someone. Because I know very well what is going on,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

Aleksandr Lukashenko assured: “Listen, I've never betrayed you and never will. It seems to me we've been living a calm and quiet life. We've been envied and respected. What have you done to the country? You will have to recover from it! Calm down, sit down, and work. You and I will meet here in January and you will say what happened and what else needs to be done.”

“Don't provoke! I've survived all kinds of things. I will survive this as well. But think about yourselves. Imagine I quit today. Have you thought about what will happen tomorrow?” the head of state asked. “Please, if you want your salaries, don't ruin your enterprise. Lukashenko will go away tomorrow, but you will stay here.”
