VITEBSK, 15 December (BelTA) – Attempts to disturb the situation in Belarus ahead of the referendum continue. Defense, security, and law enforcement agencies as well as civil servants must not relax. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statements as he met with Vitebsk Oblast senior officials on 15 December, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I cannot say the situation is critical. It is not the situation we had last year. But I always urge you not to relax in any case. It applies not only to law enforcement agencies. Those are working as hard as they can. Their work is closely scrutinized. Our government bodies are underperforming. Civil servants have to do better. Working with the population without formalistic attitudes is the key.”
